New Delhi: At the start of the Rio Olympics, India’s target was to better the number of medals won 4 years ago in London.

To the disappointment, the tally ended on just two medals and that too came to the surprise of many considering Sakshi Malik and PV Sindhu were not medal favorites in Brazil.

Before the tournament had started, new agency Associated Press had predicted that India will only manage to win two medals at Rio Olympics, much to the astonishment of sporting fraternities who were targeting a double digit outcome.

There were various predictions but AP’s saying was hard to believe considering India had sent it’s largest ever contingent at Rio.

With Yogeshwar Dutt’s failure to bring India a third medal from Rio Olympics, the country’s tally has ended on two – exactly what AP had predicted.

Guess from the next time onwards, people will not build high hopes and would take such predictions more seriously.
