Girl, 6, raped on way to school in Hyderabad, pushed into well

A six-year-old girl, who was on the way to her school, was allegedly raped by a man, and later pushed into a well who had violated her at Sangareddy district of Telangana.

Hyderabad: A six-year-old girl, who was on the way to her school, was allegedly raped by a man, and later pushed into a well who had violated her at Sangareddy district of Telangana.

The assaulter left the girl to die there, police said. 

The accused, Shiva Kumar, was arrested for the crime that took place on Thursday.

"The girl, who goes to a nearby primary school, was raped and murdered by the accused in Mannapur village in Mogdampally mandal," N Ravi, deputy superintendent of police, Zaheerabad division of Sangareddy District, said.

The girl had come home during her lunch break at her school, located in the neighbourhood. After having her meal, she went back to her school. When she did not return home till late evening, her mother launched a search and approached the police. 

Police, with the help of local people, conducted a search operation and recovered her body from the well today. 

"During his interrogation, the accused told the police that he took the girl to a nearby agricultural field and raped her there twice. He also told the police that later he threw the girl into a well," the officer said.

The victim's body was sent to a government hospital for post-mortem.
