Puducherry CM V Narayanasamy joins cleanliness drive on beach

Narayanasamy and welfare minister M Kandasamy also administered a pledge to the participants on the occasion.

Puducherry: Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Saturday joined hands with volunteers of the NCC, NSS and other outfits to clean the beach here on the occasion of the International Coastal Cleanup drive.

Wearing gloves, the chief minister was at the forefront of the drive to keep the beach garbage-free.

Narayanasamy and welfare minister M Kandasamy also administered a pledge to the participants on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, he said there was every need to ensure that a clean environment is maintained, particularly on the beaches, so that a large number of tourists including foreigners could be drawn to Puducherry.

The drive was conducted by the Indian Coastguard here.

Volunteers of NSS, NCC, and other outfits also carried out the cleanliness drive on the beaches of Kalapet, Narambi and Veerampattinam coastal villages on the outskirts of Puducherry.
