New Delhi: After BSP chief Mayawati, the Uttar Pradesh Police on Friday denied permission to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi to visit the violence-hit villages of Saharanpur on Saturday.
Confirming the development, news agency ANI reported that UP Police has denied permission to the Congress leader ahead of his scheduled Saharanpur visit.
No permission to Rahul Gandhi to visit Saharanpur, Aditya Mishra, ADG Law and Order, was quoted as saying by ANI.
Saharanpur has been on the boil after in view of the violent clashes between the Dalits and the Thakurs.
Mobile internet services and social networking sites have also been blocked in the violence-singed areas.
The Union Home Ministry has also sought a report from the state government on the Saharanpur violence.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called the recent incidents of violence in Saharanpur a "well-planned conspiracy" as the city slowly limped back to normalcy.
