North West Bengal likely to receive heavy rains from August 31

The MeT department has also forecast heavy rain over Gangetic West Bengal in the southern part of the state from September one.

Kolkata: The northern parts of West Bengal, some of which are yet to recover from the impact of flood, are again likely to receive heavy rains from August 31, the MeT department said on Tuesday.

Coochbehar, Jalpaiguri, Malda, South Dinajpur and North Dinajpur districts in north Bengal are still recovering from the depredation of flood caused by heavy rains in the third week of August when heavy rains have again been forecast in the region for at least three days from August 31.

The MeT department has also forecast heavy rain over Gangetic West Bengal in the southern part of the state from September one.

All districts in the state are likely to receive fairly widespread rain till August 31, the weatherman said in its forecast for three days from today.

The metropolis, which received a few spells of shower, recorded 18 mm rainfall in 24 hours till 8.30 am this morning.

Other parts of the state recorded little or no rainfall during the said period, the MeT department said.
