New Delhi: Maulana Nuruu Rahman Imam Barkati, who has brazenly refused to give up using red-light beacon on his car, on Friday once again justified his stsaying that the government has no authority to ban the use of 'lal battis' from his car.
The Shahi Imam of Tipu Sultan Masjid asserted that he has been using the red beacon since decades and he wouldn't take orders from the Centre.
He said, as a religious leader, using the red beacon is his privilege.
Training his guns on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Prime Minister, the Shahi Imam said that both RSS and Narendra modi are 'illegal'.
"If they are troubling me so much, I don't know how much common Muslims must be suffering," he said.
He further alleged that "the aim of RSS if to build Hindustan a Hindu Rashtra and I oppose it."
Earlier today, a FIR was launched against the Barkati by one Suraj Kumar Singh in Tiposia for refusing to comply with the Centre's ban on the use of 'lal batti'.
Barkati had yesterday defied the government order on the use of red beacon on his car and said that he was not bound to follow the order and that as a religious leader, it was his "right" to do so.
"I am a religious leader and have been using the red beacon for the past several decades. I don't follow the orders of the Centre. Who are they to order me? In Bengal, only the orders of the state government are effective. I will use red beacon. In Bengal, no one has removed the red beacon", Barkati had told PTI.
