Following the hotly-contested battles in US midterm elections on Tuesday where millions cast their ballots, votes are currently being counted to elect members to the House of Representatives (lower house) and the Senate (upper house). 

As per latest updates, Democrats have reclaimed the House of Representatives. President Donald Trump's Republicans maintained their majority in the Senate.

The midterm elections are held every four years. It will shape the future of Donald Trump`s presidency. Trump, who will complete his second year in the White House in January 2019, has campaigned non-stop in the midterm elections, focusing on states where his Republican Party has a chance to pick up seats, especially in the US Senate.
