Polling in MP, Mizoram to elect new Assemblies on Monday

Polling for the 230 member assembly in Madhya Pradesh and 40 member Mizoram Assembly will take place on Monday.

New Delhi: Polling for the 230 member assembly in Madhya Pradesh and 40 member Mizoram Assembly will take place on Monday.
In Madhya Pradesh, voters will decide the fate of 2583 candidates contesting the elections for the 230 Assembly seats. While in Mizoram, a total of 6.91 lakh voters would exercise their franchise to decide the fate of 142 candidates in the poll fray. The main political parties in the fray are ruling Congress led by Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla, and three party- opposition alliance Mizoram Democratic Alliance (MDA) led by former Chief Minister Zoramthanga`s Mizo National Front. Apart from them, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Zoram Nationalist Party and Nationalist Congress Party are contesting in the state election. In Madhya Pradesh, all arrangements have been completed for free and fair polls for the state legislative assembly tomorrow. Polling material is being distributed to polling parties across the state and all the polling parties are expected to reach their polling booths by this evening. The state is going to the polls with 100 per cent photo bearing electoral rolls for the first time and the election commission has distributed photo bearing voters slips to all the voters. Counting in Madhya Pradesh will be held on December 8, while that in Mizoram on December 9.
