New Delhi: Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt's classic 1991 romantic drama 'Sadak' was loved by the audience. The film featured Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt in lead roles and had noted actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar as the villainous brothel-owner Maharani. The blockbuster film was also responsible for establishing Sanjay Dutt as a mainstream actor back in the 90s.

Now, after a gap of 27 years, Sanjay Dutt and Mahesh Bhatt are all set to reunite for the sequel of their 1991 hit 'Sadak'.

Mahesh Bhatt's daughter Pooja Bhatt, who was also a part of 'Sadak' and is rumored to play Alia Bhatt’s mother in 'Sadak 2', had shared a picture of Sanjay Dutt bonding with Mahesh Bhatt over his famous Shiva tattoo. She wrote, “And Mahesh whispers to Sanju what Shiva is really all about- “Shiva is an illuminator, protector, teacher of the ultimate wisdom in silence. We get comfort only when we abandon everything that we hold dearly to ourselves and seek refuge in that Rudra, totally resigning, and surrendering to that energy!” #Shiva #Mahesh #Sadak2 #actorsanddirectors #sanjaydutt #maheshbhatt #tattoo #shivatattoo #behindthescenes #candidcamera"

Talking about his reunion with Sanjay Dutt, Bhatt was quoted by Mumbai Mirror as saying, "Sanjay who was 32 when we made the original, comes back as a 54-year-old Ravi into the 21st century world that is collapsing in front of his eyes, where the distinction between the house and the ‘sadak’ is fast disappearing. The story has the emotional connect of the films I made back in the’90s which brought a lump to the throats of the viewer.”

Sanjay Dutt made his Bollywood comeback in 2017 with the revenge-thriller, 'Bhoomi', which also starred actress Aditi Rao Hydari. He will be next seen in 'Torbaaz' and 'Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3'.
