London: To mark Queen Elizabeth`s diamond jubilee on Britain`s throne, UK`s royal family plans to embark on a global tour including to India.
The British Monarch will complete 60 years on the British throne next year and the Buckingham Palace is planning the global tour by Royal family members, as an apparent attempt to revamp themselves globally.
Members of the royal family are being dispatched on tours around the world next year, although the monarch, by then 86, will be confining herself to visits around Britain, a Buckingham Palace announcement said. Most parts of the Commonwealth will receive a royal visit, though some may regard themselves as luckier than others in who they get. Among those being sent out will be Prince Harry, entrusted with his first solo official overseas trip, an arduous posting to Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas, with presumably little time allocated by his aides for too much rest and recuperation, The Guardian daily said. The most sought after royal, Prince William, second in line of succession, will travel with his father and his step-mother Camilla to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. The Queen`s second son, Prince Andrews will visit India while her daughter Prince`s Anne will visit Mozambique and Zambia and her youngest son Prince Edward and his wife Sophie will visit the Carribbean. Elizabeth is the second longest reigning monarch in Britain`s history after her great-great grandmother Queen Victoria who reigned for more than 63 years. The tour appears to be an attempt by the British royals to revamp themselves after a turbulent period following the death of William`s mother Princess Diana in 1997. PTI
