Star Wars launches contest to find favourite characters of franchise

Melbourne: Disney has launched a popularity contest titled `This is Madness,` in the hope of singling out fan`s favourite Star Wars characters.

The official Star Wars event represents one of Disney`s first attempts to milk the franchise it purchased from George Lucas for 4 billion dollars in October last year. Cashing in on the clash between the Dark Side and the Light Side, starwars.com has given the major contenders in the character popularity contest their own say, the Daily Telegraph reported. According to CNET, there are four regions, two from the Light Side, and two from the Dark Side. StarWars.com will be announcing the winner on April 9. There will be four rounds of voting before the winner is chosen, in the first round, there are 16 total matchups, like Han Solo versus Lando Carlrissian, or Count Dooku versus Tarkin, and the winners of those pairings will move on to the second round.
