London: Hollywood hunk Will Smith is ready to take a pay cut to star in controversial filmmaker Quentin Tarantino`s next.
The 42-year-old actor who usually charges a whopping USD 20 million for each film, is ready to lighten his pay cheque for `Django Unchained`, reported Contactmusic. "Smith would be willing to give up his usual USD 20 million salary for more meaty and controversial stuff, just as Brad Pitt did to star in `Inglorious Basterds`. He has long been seeking edgier roles," said a source close to the actor. The story of the new flick centers around slave-turned-bounty hunter on a mission to rescue his wife from her sadistic slavemaster. One of the film`s two leads will be played by Tarantino`s `Inglourious Basterds` star Christoph Waltz ,while the title role has yet to be cast and Smith is keen on it. Tarantino is also seeking a reunion with Samuel L. Jackson, who is being courted for the role of Stephen, the main servant to the chief antagonist in the Southern-flavored western. PTI
