Rail passengers to soon receive SMS on ticket status
As part of its 'go green' initiative, the Southern railways would do away with the practice of pasting reservation charts on train coaches and instead send SMS alerts to passengers regarding the reservation status of their tickets.

Madurai: As part of its 'go green' initiative, the Southern railways would do away with the practice of pasting reservation charts on train coaches and instead send SMS alerts to passengers regarding the reservation status of their tickets.
On a trial basis, the passengers of Shatabdi Express and Rajdhani Express will receive SMS information from March 20 to 22, respectively for a period of one month, a press release said today.
However, as per the extinct practice, the waitlist chart will be pasted at the main entrance of the railway stations, the release added
