James Franco quits Twitter

Hollywood actor James Franco has shut down his Twitter account.

Melbourne: Hollywood actor James Franco has shut down his Twitter account.
The ‘Spider-Man’ star declared a moratorium on his social media activity on the weekend after his controversial postings on the micro-blogging website landed him in trouble, reports the Herald Sun. The 32-year-old star, flaunted his Hollywood lifestyle in a Twitter posting last week with a photo, from a film shoot, of himself surrounded by a bevy of naked women. According to Politico, Franco said at a charity event in Washington, "My thought was ``this is my Twitter. I can do whatever I want.`` But certain companies I work with contacted me about what I was saying.” Earlier in March, the actor had tweeted a photo of an object protruding out of an open fly on a pair of his jeans, leading some fans to question his appropriateness. Franco was also criticised for live-tweeting the Oscars while he co-hosted the ceremony, in a performance that was reviewed as lackluster. He had said that that his image was suffering from overexposure. "Social media is over. Still up there. Going down," he added in his comments to the press last week. Franco shut his account, a little more than a month after he first opened it. ANI
