Shyam Benegal says I am a passionate man: Ravi Kishan

Actor Ravi Kishan, who rose to stardom with Bhojpuri films and has now found a strong foothold in Bollywood, is all-excited about his upcoming release `Well Done Abba` directed by Shyam Benegal.

New Delhi: Actor Ravi Kishan, who rose to stardom with Bhojpuri films and has now found a strong foothold in Bollywood, is all-excited about his upcoming release `Well Done Abba` directed by Shyam Benegal. The actor, who had earlier worked with Benegal in `Welcome to Sajjanpur`, claims that the veteran filmmaker considers him a passionate man and so gives him only such roles in his films.
"Shyam Benegal thinks I am a passionate man, so he casts me in such kind of roles. In `Well Done Abba`, I play a passionate husband who is not satisfied with his honeymoon and keeps dreaming of having an ideal one," Kishan told reporters.
In `Welcome...`, Kishan had portrayed the role of a village man who falls in love with a widow and wishes to marry her, ignoring the disapproval of people in their community. The 38-year-old actor, who is juggling between small budget films and the big ones, will also be seen in Mani Ratnam`s highly anticipated film `Raavan`, which stars Aishwariya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan in the lead. "It is God`s kindness that I get the chance to work with all kinds of directors, especially people like Shyam Benegal and Mani Ratnam. I try to make my self available for everyone, small or big, who want to work with me," said Kishan, who is also working with Ram Gopal Varma in new film `Happy Journey`. Even though he has some major films in his kitty, the actor refuses to give up working for television projects or in regional films. "Bhojpuri films are my identity, I will never give up acting in them. I am also carrying on with my job of a host on television, as the second season of `Raaz Pichle Janam Ka` will start in June," said Kishan. The actor has two releases this month, the first being `Na Ghar Ke Na Ghaat Ke` which released on March 12 and the next `Well Done...`, set to hit theatres on March 26. `Na Ghar Ke..` had this actor from UP play the role of a Marathi goon, who befriends a migrant villager who comes to Mumbai looking for work. "I had to talk in the typical lingo of a don and also dress up that way. The film is satirical, on the lines of `Welcome to Sajjanpur`, and also carries a message," said Kishan. Beside acting, Kishan also has a production house which makes Bhojpuri films. The actor is now looking forward to producing Hindi movies. "I would like to produce Hindi films as well and I am looking at a few scripts. But I have no plans to direct any myself," said the actor. PTI
