London: The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have joined the royals immortalised in wax at Madame Tussauds.
Despite being mere wax models, William and Kate still created a buzz of excitement among the media as they were unveiled Wednesday, The Telegraph reported.
The couple have been introduced in the museum in a pose and setting taken from the day their engagement was announced at St. James`s Palace. William stands with his hands clasped in front of him and Kate, in her now famous blue Issa dress, smiling broadly next to him.
Madame Tussauds is expecting the couple to be the most popular wax figures and they may even surpass interest in the Queen at the London attraction.
Liz Edwards, from Madame Tussauds, said: "The Queen is the most popular attraction but since the royal wedding fever we`ve had people coming in to see William when he was without Catherine.
"Catherine has her own star quality so we are expecting a lot of people to come, especially with the Easter weekend coming."
A team of around 30 worked for four months creating each of the models from sculpting and colouring the heads, to painting the eyes, creating the head of hair a strand at a time and styling clothes and accessories.
Accessories include a replica of the sapphire and diamond engagement ring which once belonged to Diana, Princess of Wales, and the duke`s Omega Seamaster watch.
