It`s difficult to break norms: Vikramaditya Motwane

Vikramaditya Motwane, whose debut film "Udaan" won him all-round critical accolades, feels it is a struggle to break general norms in the showbiz industry.

Mumbai: Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, whose debut film "Udaan" won him all-round critical accolades, feels it is a struggle to break general norms in the showbiz industry.
"I am happy with the place where I am. I am happy with the films that I have made. There is no sense of contentment as I think there is too much to do. The struggle that one has is against the general norms in the industry, probably there is going to be a struggle all the time," Motwane told reporters. "I want to make sensible movies, the movies that keep audiences engaged. It takes hard work but it breaks through the norms. It is a fight and there will be victories every year, losses every year," he added. Meanwhile, the filmmaker is currently busy working on his new film "Lootera", which features Sonakshi Sinha and Ranveer Singh in prominent roles. It is a period drama set in the era of 1950s. Though Motwane admits that having stars in the film helps attract eyeballs, he suggests one should try and make a film without big names and promote new talent. "Having stars in the film makes a huge difference as people go and watch films because you have stars in it and you can`t deny that. But I do think that if you can afford to make a film without stars looking at the economics of the entire film then you should," said Motwane. "For `Lootera`, I couldn`t have worked without stars because the economics wouldn`t have worked out. But I do think that if you can make a film without stars then you should. It is our duty to promote new talent," he added. IANS
