Gujarat Titans

137/3(19.1 Overs)

We are back for Gujarat's reply. The players are out in the middle. Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha are the openers for Gujarat.

Right then! A win here and Gujarat will secure a top two finish. They have a good batting line up and they should fancy a win here. Stay tuned as the chase is coming up shortly.

... The Chase...

Narayan Jagadeesan is up for a quick chat. He says that the wicket was a bit sticky and it was two-paced and it was not easy for the batters. Tells that they are 15-20 runs short. Mentions that everyone has their plan ready and it is all about execution in the middle. Says that seamers will find help if they change the pace and also reckons that spinners have something for them in it.

Chennai struggled to bat as they played at a strolling rate. Ruturaj Gaikwad played the anchor role as he brought up his fifty but it was at a slow pace. After the partnership between Moeen Ali and Gaikwad, the run rate dropped drastically and the batters were struggling all the time. The total doesn't look like a winning one and Chennai will feel they are 15-20 runs short.

Gujarat bowled with plans and had a decent Powerplay as well. They didn't offer much pace and made things harder for Chennai in the scorching heat. They kept things tight throughout and didn't allow Chennai to get on the front foot. Each bowler Hardik Pandya used had a good day and were economical as well. Mohammad Shami was the pick of the bowlers as he ended up with two wickets.

This has been an incredible bowling effort from Gujarat. Not a single boundary was scored in the last five overs and that tells you how hard it was to bat on. Gujarat were on top mostly throughout the innings and they deserve to win this one.

Mohammad Shami to Narayan Jagadeesan, Couple of runs to end the innings! A very full delivery on middle. Narayan Jagadeesan hits it left of long on and comes back for the second. Chennai finish with 133/5 after 20 overs!

Mitchell Santner comes in.

Mohammad Shami to MS Dhoni, ! CAUGHT! Chennai were struggling to get boundaries and Dhoni who struggled throughout the innings today, departs now! Shami bangs it short, good thinking this after bowling two yorkers. It is on off and Dhoni pulls it but straight to Yash Dayal at mid-wicket. He takes the catch and Chennai have lost the momentum they had in these death overs

Mohammad Shami to MS Dhoni, Yorker length again on middle. Dhoni looks for a helicopter shot. He gets some part of his blade and the ball goes towards deep mid-wicket for a couple. 26 balls since the last boundary!

Alzarri Joseph to Shivam Dube, ! CAUGHT BEHIND! The pace of Alzarri Joseph is too hot to handle for Dube and he goes back without troubling the scorers. A pacy short ball on middle. It is well directed and Dube initially looks to hook it. However, he tries to back away at the last moment. The ball though catches the shoulder of his blade and loops in the air behind the stumps. Ruturaj Gaikwad dances down the track and goes for a big heave across the line. The ball goes in the air but there is no power on that shot and the ball goes straight into the hands of Matthew Wade at deep mid-wicket. He takes the catch and end of a fine innings from Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Sai Kishore to Ruturaj Gaikwad, A low full toss, on off, pushed to deep cover for a single. That will be fifty for Ruturaj Gaikwad, not his best of the fifties but it's very crucial here.

Mohammad Shami to Narayan Jagadeesan, Outside off, on a length, cut away to deep point for a single.

Mohammad Shami to Ruturaj Gaikwad, Nails the yorker, on middle. Ruturaj jams it out to long on for a single.

DRINKS! Chennai after an early wicket were in a decent position with Moeen Ali and Ruturaj Gaikwad building a good partnership. However, Moeen Ali is gone now and the onus is on Ruturaj Gaikwad to bat deep here. The pitch is on the slower side and Chennai would be looking to make the most of these 8 wickets in hands in the last 7 overs. Gujarat bowlers have done well to not leak runs here but they need to carry on their good work as anything more than 160 on this pitch can get tricky. Moham

... MATCH DAY...

Hello everyone! It’s been a rather sad start to the day as we had some despairing news for the cricketing world. We lost another superstar of this game, Andrew Symonds has passed away in a car accident. One of the greatest all-rounders this game has ever seen is no more with us. We have lost two great icons of Australia in space of two months now. Rest in Peace Roy.

Pitch Report - Danny Morrison is down near the pitch. He says there is a 60m boundary on one side. Tells that pacers do get bounce here and spinners will also get help because of the famous red soil and it is a bit dry. Adds that because of it being a day game the spinners will have a say in this game.

Gujarat have already qualified and Hardik Pandya has a chance to test his bench or rest some key players ahead of the next phase. Chennai too can be expected to make some tweaks and test their squad, keeping the future in mind. Stay tuned for toss and other news.

Match Number 62 - It’s Chennai vs Gujarat. It's Master vs Apprentice. This contest doesn't have much at stake as both teams know where the future lies.
