29 July 2017
15:25 PM

Over 68 | Score 234/5 | Karunaratne 94 (193) ; Dilruwan 13 (22)

Ashwin got the important wicket of Dickwella putting an end to the crucial partnership the Sri Lanka was banking on. Stepped in, Dilruwan Perera. Karunaratne now seems the only hope for the hosts. He is just a few runs away from his Test ton.

15:24 PM

Over 60 | Score 206/4 | Karunaratne 89 (174) ; Dickwella 58 (87)

Niroshan Dickwella and Karunaratne continue after the tea break and with the former notching up his fourth Test fifty. SL have also crossed the 200-run mark

14:52 PM

Over 57 | Score 192/4 | Karunaratne 85 (166) ; Dickwella 48 (76)

Sri Lanka need to continue the same way and hold onto the remaining wickets left in their bag. It is just moments before the two teams wrap up for tea. And yes it is...tea-break signalled by the umpire

13:52 PM

Over 50 | Score 176/4 | Karunaratne 78 (144) ; Dickwella 39 (55)

Hardik Pandya brought into the attack. Dickwella and Karunaratne bring up their 50-run stand. SL slowly building momentum and India need yet another to assure themselves of a win at Galle.

13:52 PM

Over 43 | Score 142/4 | Karunaratne 68 (130) ; Dickwella 17 (29)

The duo at pitch are taking things slow. Virat Kohli in the mean time thought to introduce Hardik Pandya, but then stuck to Ashwin.

13:21 PM

Over 35 | Score 119/4 | Karunaratne 60 (109) ; Dickwella 2 (2)

Jadeja in for the 31st over. DRS appeal again after Saha screamed out for a catch, behind the stumps. Umpire denied and Kohli pushed for a review. Yes, Kushal Mendis walked back to the pavilion as Angelo Mathews stepped in next.

Jadeja struck back to remove Angelo Mathews. He looked for a leg side flick, but only got a touch of the leading edge of the bat as the ball went straight to the fielder at backward point. Niroshan Dickwella stepped in next

12:40 PM

Over 30 | Score 108/2 | Karunaratne 53 (96) ; Mendis 36 (66)

Dimuth Karunaratne smashed his 12th Test fifty as Sri Lanka seem to put forth a fight back. On course, India also lost a DRS review.

12:06 PM

We are back after lunch. Mendis and Karunaratne continue at the crease, while Ashwin steps into the attack

11:52 AM

Over 23 | Score 85/2 | Karunaratne 44 (74) ; Mendis 24 (46)

Spin attack continued on the duo as they scooped up just eight runs from the three overs bowled. Its lunch time now at Galle. Sri Lanka still have 465 runs to score. That is huge, of course.

11:51 AM

Over 20 | Score 78/2 | Karunaratne 40 (66) ; Mendis 21 (36)

Virat Kohli introduced spin in the form of Ashwin and Jadeja to scalp one more before lunch. But Karunaratne and Mendis seem to aim for a rebuild of their already faltering innings. They need to set up a momentum to upturn the pressure.

10:51 AM

Over 12 | Score 55/2 | Karunaratne 27 (33) ; Mendis 11 (19)

Another breakthrough for the hosts as Umesh Yadav removes opener Gunathilaka. Sri Lanka look jittery. The target is big and they do have a lot of time to pile up the score, but they need to stick to the crease to reach the target.

10:51 AM

Over 5 | Score 29/1 | Karunaratne 12 (16) ; Gunathilaka 2 (4)

Staring at a massive 550, Sri Lanka lost their first wicket. Mohammed Shami angled the back-of-the-length delivery as the ball sneaked in to rattle against the stumps. Gunathilaka stepped in next.

09:59 AM

Overs 53 | Score 240/3 | Kohli 103 (136) ; Rahane 23 (18)

Virat Kohli notched up his 17th Test ton and his average is back to 50 now. With that India have now declared. Target for the hosts 550.

09:45 AM

Overs 50 | Score 220/3 | Kohli 91 (124) ; Rahane 16 (11)

Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli walked in to start of India's proceedings for the day. Lead now surges to 500. The duo is smashing boundaries and sixes, seems to be in a hurry. Kohli is enroute to his 17th Test ton.
