New Delhi: In a major security breach ahead of the country's 70th Independence Day, a police Gypsy was stolen from the South Extension in south Delhi.

According to a ToI report, the stolen vehicle, which belonged to the Quick Reaction Team (QRT)  of the Delhi Police, had flashers on top.

The vehicle was attached to the Tughlaq Road Police Station and had just returned from a patrol.

According to available information, the driver of the Gypsy had gone home and parked the vehicle outside his house. 

When he returned, the vehicle was missing. Immediately, a PCR call was made and messages flashed across Delhi. 

The incident has sent security agencies in a tizzy and a massive hunt has been launched to trace the vehicle. 

Delhi Police personnel deployed at barricades set up across the city in view of the 70th Independence Day and all beat officer have been asked to increase vigilance.

The DCP-level officer has been asked to probe the matter, according to the report.

The latest incident of theft comes days after the intelligence agencies warned of possible car-bomb attack before August 15. 
Intelligence agencies are also assisting the police in tracking down the stolen vehicle.

A case of theft has been registered in this regard.
