Happy with Fawad`s popularity in India: Ahsan Khan

Pakistani actor Ahsan Khan, who plays the lead in `Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar`, says he is happy to see fellow actor Fawad Khan`s growing popularity in India.

New Delhi: Pakistani actor Ahsan Khan, who plays the lead in `Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar`, says he is happy to see fellow actor Fawad Khan`s growing popularity in India.
Ahsan and Fawad started their showbiz career in Pakistan together and they both have become popular in India, thanks to their stints on TV shows `Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar` and `Zindagi Gulzar Hai`. Fawad has also bagged his debut project in Bollywood and will be seen in Sonam Kapoor starrer `Khoobsurat`. "We started our career together in Pakistan and we are the leading actors there. I am happy that Fawad has become so popular in India and bagged a good project. I don`t feel that one should be jealous of it. Making a place in such a popular film industry is a big thing for all of us. He is equally popular in Pakistan," Ahsan told PTI over phone from Karachi. In `Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar`, Ahsan is playing the male protagonist on the Zindagi show. His character is of a gullible person who is easily manipulated. Ahsan says he does not relate to the character in real life and had a small tiff with the makers before starring in it. "In reality, I am completely a different person. It was a tough character to play because he is too vulnerable at times. My character Umer is rich but he is a simple man, who can be easily manipulated by his lover and friends. There were no variations in the character and I had a small fight with my makers initially regarding that but we sorted it out." Ahsan`s debut Bollywood film `Do Paise Ki Dhoop, Chaar Aane Ki Baarish` is yet to release. The Deepti Naval directed film was screened at various film festivals. "Deeptiji and I met at a film festival in new York. At that time she was deciding on the cast of the film and she offered me a role in her movie. I play one of the male leads in the films. I have no clue when the film is releasing," he said. The actor wants to star in more Bollywood films now and he has a wish-list of favourite directors including Prabhu Deva, Zoya Akhtar and Imtiaz Ali. "When I will come next to India, I am definitely going to meet Prabhu Deva. He is a maverick filmmaker. He makes such entertaining films and all of them are superhit in Pakistan. Apart from Prabhu Deva, I want to work with Imtiaz (Ali) and Zoya (Akhtar). Zoya`s `Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara` is a hit among youth here," he said.
