Yash Raj to sue Suchitra Bhatia on ‘New York’ plagiarism row

Mumbai, July 02: Ever since its conception, ‘New York’ has been in the eye of storm. From incessant grapevine of Katrina’s growing proximity with co-stars John Abraham and Neil Nitin Mukesh to the latest allegations of it being plagiarised, ‘New York’ is courting all sorts of unsavoury controversies. Earlier, Suchitra raged at Yash Raj Films for allegedly lifting her idea. “I wrote to Aditya Chopra in August 2006 regarding two stories I had. He asked director Arjun Sablok to get in touch with me. He contacted me and we fixed up a meeting at the YRF studio. On September 1, I met Arjun and narrated two story ideas to him. He was extremely happy with the stories. I still remember him exclaiming ‘Wow!’ I kept writing to him, but there was no response and I gave up as I got busy with other work. To my surprise, after three years, I saw ‘New York’ and was disheartened to know what they had done: using my story without even informing me, let alone give me any credit.” News has it that ‘New York’ producers Yash Raj Films are seeking a legal action against Suchitra Bhatia for her false allegations. Confirming these latest developments, a concerned Kabir Khan said, “This is really unfortunate. I wonder which cave this girl was living in so far to suddenly wake up five days after our film released to realize that New York is about three friends against a 9/11 backdrop.” Openly showing his displeasure, angry Kabir said, “It’s a great method of getting her 15 minutes of fame. Yes, we’re planning to sue her and make an example of this sort of post-success harassment that filmmakers go through. Why does one have to keep fighting to protect one’s integrity? By suing this girl I hope to discourage such frivolous charges in the future.” Hmm…it seems Kabir Khan has every reason to get livid on such futile hearsay!
