Akshay Kumar: Bollywood’s leading income taxpayer!

New Delhi: It is usually believed that the more tax a Bollywood celebrity pays, the more successful and rich he or she is, and going by reports Akshay Kumar has become the highest advance income tax payer for the sixth consecutive year by shelling out Rs 18 crores this year. According to a leading daily, the 45-year-old, who has given four back to back hits- ‘Housefull 2’, ‘Rowdy Rathore’, ‘OMG’ and ‘Special 26’ – is said to have beaten all the three Khans and become the highest advance income tax payer. “No one will talk about these things openly, but the advance income tax payer list has thrown up a few surprises this year. For the past couple of years, Salman’s films have been blockbusters at the box office, but Akshay remains way ahead of the pack in terms of his tax payment,” a trade insider said. While, ‘Dabangg’ star Salman Khan landed second in the list by paying Rs. 11 crore, Bollywood Badshah Shah Rukh Khan stood third by paying Rs. 10.5 crore. Meanwhile Mr. Perfectionist of Bollywood - Aamir Khan - is said to have coughed up Rs. 8 crore. Talking about Bollywood actresses, Katrina Kaif paid the highest tax of Rs. 4.5 crore while Kareena Kapoor Khan is said to have paid Rs. 4 crore. ‘Badmash Babli’ Priyanka Chopra was left far behind in the race and paid a meagre Rs. 2 crore.
