Miss Universe 2015: Steve Harvey apologises for wrongly naming winner

Host Steve Harvey wrongly took the name of Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner of the coveted Miss Universe 201 title.

Mumbai: The Miss Universe 2015 grand finale and an unexpected and a shocking twist. Host Steve Harvey took the name of Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez as the winner of the coveted title and Miss Philippines Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach as the first runner-up. Harvey realised that he had named the wrong woman as the winner and apologised for the same.

Harvey took to Twitter to express himself after the awkward mix-up.

He wrote:

I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible. — Steve Harvey (@IAmSteveHarvey) December 21, 2015

Gutierrez was incorrectly crowned as Miss Universe and after the correct name of the winner was announced. Former Miss Universe Paulina Vega had to take away the sash, the crown and bouquet of flowers from Gutierrez to hand it over to the actual winner - Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach.
