David Tennant joins Marvel's 'AKA Jessica Jones'

Los Angeles: Actor David Tennant will appear in Marvel and Netflix's 'AKA Jessica Jones'.

Marvel Studios announced that Tennant, 43, will have a recurring role in the limited-run series as Zebediah Killgrave, a villain more commonly known as the Purple Man, reported Entertainment Weekly.

The mind-controlling Killgrave has a connection to superhero-turned-detective Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), and throws her life into chaos when he reappears in New York City.

"I'm so honoured and excited by the prospect of David inhabiting this multifaceted character," showrunner Melissa Rosenberg announced. "He can deliver the most heart-wrenching moment to the driest of lines, and all points in between. He'll make Killgrave a truly original villain."

Tennant's most high-profile television roles include playing The Doctor in 'Doctor Who' from 2006 to 2010, and starring in both UK drama 'Broadchurch' and its US remake 'Gracepoint'.
