'Legend of Korra' bosses confirm lesbian romance

Los Angeles: Michael Dante DiMartino has confirmed that animated television series 'Legend of Korra' characters Korra and Asami do have feelings for each other.

The co-creator explained that the last scene of the Nickelodeon cartoon series finale intentionally showed the romantic feelings between the two female characters.

Our intention with the last scene was to make it as clear as possible that yes, Korra and Asami have romantic feelings for each other... I wanted to make a clear verbal statement to complement the show's visual one. I get that not everyone will be happy with the way that the show ended," DiMartino posted on his blog on tumblr.

"Rarely does a series finale of any show satisfy that show's fans, so I've been pleasantly surprised with the positive articles and posts I've seen about Korra's finale," he added.

The series finale of 'Legend of Korra' aired on December 19.
