Controversies surrounding Aamir Khan’s ‘PK’ refuse to die down!

Mumbai: Aamir Khan starrer ‘PK’ may have succeeded in keeping the Box Office cash registers ringing, but the controversies surrounding the film just refuse to die down.

The film courted controversy ever since its first poster was released. A number of petitioners filed complaints with the court alleging that the poster was obscene. The poster in question had Aamir in nude avatar covering his essentials with a transistor.

Directed by Rajkumar Hirani and produced by Vidhu Vinod Chopra, ‘PK’ made headlines for contradictory reasons, post its release on December 19, 2014. Critics and audiences hailed the film for its unique treatment, while religious groups protested and demanded a ban on the film.

As several cities witnessed protests against the content of ‘PK’, BJP leader Subramanian Swamy questioned the financing of the film, a few days back.

UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav made the film tax-free in his state and even appreciated the film. Even the Maharashtra state government said that film’s screening cannot not be stalled.

In a statement that could stite fresh controversy, a censor board member has said that he did object to certain scenes in the film and the latest is that Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati has demanded a CBI probe over how the movie got the censor board certificate.
