If not Sonam Kapoor, who was the first choice for ‘Neerja’?

The makers of ‘Neerja’ had always maintained that Sonam Kapoor was the one and only choice for the film.

Mumbai: Ram Madhvani’s ‘Neerja’ helped Sonam Kapoor, otherwise best knwon for her style statement, to redefine her space in the industry as an actress. The pretty girl did a fabulous job in the film based on Neerja Bhanot, the head purser of Pan Am Flight 73, which was hijacked in 1986 in Karachi.

However, a report on Bollywoodlife.com originally attributed to a popular web portal suggests that Alia Bhatt’s name was being suggested by the makers. And if the report is anything to go by, then Alia lost out to Sonam only because of her height. Sonam is apparently 5 inches taller than Alia.

Nonetheless, the makers had always maintained that Sonam was the one and only choice to play the inspiring character.

Now, that the film has garnered critical praise and commercial success, none associated with the team would have any complaints.

And we loved Sonam Kapoor as ‘Neerja’.
