Vin Diesel's mom wants him to direct 'Furious 8'

Los Angeles: Action star Vin Diesel's mother Delora Vincent wants him to direct the next film in "Fast & Furious" franchise.

The search for a director of "Furious 8" has been on for some time since James Wan, who helmed "Furious 7", chose not to return for the eighth installment.

Diesel, 48, shared a lengthy post of Facebook quoting his mother's suggestion for him to turn director, said The Hollywood Reporter.

"I will share something crazy that my mother said six months ago after the studio had me announce the date for 8 to the world... 'Either you direct 8 yourself... Or don't do it. "She has seen first hand what I've done to make these movies defy expectations and become increasingly successful, even when the studio thought I was crazy... Haha," the post read.

The franchise regular also suggested that he wants Rob Cohen, who helmed the first installment to come back for the "Furious 8" slated for 2017 release.
