Run for an hr after a pack of chips

An hour long run is needed to consume calories after eating a pack of chips.

Melbourne, April 24: An eight year old child needs an hour long run to consume the calories after eating small packet of chips, a new research in Australia revealed today. The research found that a similar level of exercise -- an hour of vigorous playground activity or 48 minutes pedalling a bike -- is required to consume the energy from just one row of a chocolate block, the Courier-Mail said.
According to Children`s Nutrition Research Centre in Australia, level of exercise would be more vigorous for children who eat a burger, hot chips and a soft drink in one
meal. To use this much of energy an eight-year-old would need to spend nearly five hours running around has found or three hours on a bike, the report said. The new findings have surprised everyone in Australia and dietitian asking parents to watch their children`s diets and reserve such high-energy foods for occasional treats as one in five Queensland children considered overweight or obese. "It`s a really frightening amount," Helen Turby, a dietitian and childhood obesity expert at Nutrition Research Centre, said. "People don`t understand necessarily how much you have to do, and for how long, to burn off all that energy from one small meal," she added. She said that many children need more exercise as they spend most of the time in such activities which consume less energy. "A lot of children are very sedentary. They`re spending much more time sitting around watching television, using computer games," she said. Bureau Report
