Indian meals consist of a variety of food items. A regular meal consists of Dal, Rice, Chapatis, Vegetable curry, Curd/Buttermilk, Salad/Raita and a sweet preparation.

When we dine at a restaurant which serves a complete thali, sweet items are served in the end. But why do we have spicy food in the beginning and conclude our meals by consuming sweets?
