Poonam Pandey, in an exclusive interview to Ananya Bhattacharya of Zeenews.com, speaks about her debut in Bollywood.

Poonam Pandey, the girl who turned into a sensation almost overnight with her post-ICC World Cup 2011 stints, is now on the threshold of starring in her first film. Directed by Amit Saxena, who had earlier donned the Director’s Hat for ‘Jism’ (the Bipasha Basu-John Abraham starrer) and produced by Eagle Home Entertainment; the film is expected to hit the screens sometime in the summer of 2013. The shooting begins on November 1, 2012 and the first look is to be unveiled on October 29. The ‘new generation girl’, in an exclusive interview to Ananya Bhattacharya of Zeenews.com, speaks about her debut in Bollywood and a lot more. Excerpts from the conversation:

What is your film essentially about? My film is based on addiction, and the name of the film, too, is connected to the same. I’m quite restless about the first look. Do you feel you’re providing some sort of competition to Sherlyn Chopra or Sunny Leone – given the fact that the latter has already starred in an erotic thriller and the former has posed for adult magazine ‘Playboy’? This is not a competition. I feel all of them are doing their own job, and so am I. The Hindi Film Industry is a huge platform; all get their own chance here. What matters the most is one’s talent. I can’t say that I’m the best, but I will work towards becoming so in my field. My Tweethearts all love me a lot; the love and affection that they have showered on me is overwhelming – that is what matters. What’s your take on erotica and porn? Like I always say, I’m a ‘new generation girl’. People are much more open to all kinds of things these days. They are all smart and mature and I feel it’s no big deal if they watch porn. What new about Poonam Pandey will the audience be able to see in the film? Everything in the film is new. Unless people are provided with new things to watch, they are bound to get bored. I’ve served my fans different things. I’ve gone ahead with ideas which nobody would have even thought about. There’s a lot of difference in seeing still photographs and a movie. With the pictures, I’ve been getting a lot of love and applause from my Tweethearts, I’m sure they would definitely want to watch the film. All that I can say at this point of time is that what people have seen of Poonam Pandey is nothing lot. How far in Bollywood do you think you’ll be able to rise? In Bollywood, everything depends on your hard work and wisdom. I’m not being overconfident; I just want to go with the flow. I’ve been in the industry for 2/2.5 years and have rejected a lot of movie scripts. This is a totally different story altogether and that is the reason I accepted the offer. I’ve been very choosy in life and I’m just 20 – I don’t really need to run! Some information about your film. Whatever I’ve been doing so far, was nothing at all. In this film, people will see the Poonam Pandey style of entertainment. I’ve been asked to do a lot of reality shows and item numbers, but I’ve refused everything. This is a very bold film, and people do love to watch such things. However, the story of a film is what matters the most. This is the best of Poonam Pandey that people have seen so far – this is different. Nothing like this has been seen in the industry so far. The movie will change people’s mindsets about everything, and I’m waiting eagerly for the first look. What about your parents – are they happy with this? Parents! My parents have been wondering for a long time as to why I’d been rejecting so many films. Now they’ll be able to realize the reason why I’d been doing so – and yes, they’re happy about everything!
