A man was arrested for allegedly strangling his wife after being denied conjugal rights in a village here, a police official said on Friday.

Kurukshetra: A man was arrested for allegedly strangling his wife after being denied conjugal rights in a village here, a police official said on Friday.

Sanjeev Kumar (35), a native of Jogna Khera village in the district, killed his wife in a fit of rage on Tuesday after she resisted his attempt to have sex, SHO of Kurukshetra University police station, Ramesh Kumar said. He was arrested on Wednesday.

"The incident took place on Tuesday night. The brother of the deceased lodged a complaint against her Kumar on Wednesday. The woman's postmortem revealed that death occurred due to strangulation," Ramesh Kumar said over phone.

He said that the accused had been remanded to judicial custody till November 30.

"During interrogation, he told us that he killed his wife because she spurned his demand to have sexual intercourse and a fight broke out between the two," the SHO said, adding that the accused confessed of having illicit relations with another woman.
