Monsoon enters parts of Haryana

Punjab and Haryana, the grain bowl states of the country, had received scanty monsoon rains during last two years.

Chandigarh: The southwest monsoon on Sunday entered parts of Haryana, even as humid weather prevailed in other parts of the state and the neighbouring Punjab.

"The monsoon today entered the National Capital Region that includes places like Gurugram, Faridabad, Rohtak and Sonepat," a MeT Department official said here.

The monsoon is expected to fully cover the two states, including the Union Territory, within the next few days.

Last year too, the monsoon had entered the two states on July 2.

Meanwhile, high humidity prevailed in several areas, including Chandigarh, Ambala, Karnal, Amritsar, Patiala, Jalandhar and Ludhiana.
