New Delhi: Today is October 16th and like every year, this is the day to fight against hunger- the World Food Day.

This day is celebrated in honour of the date of the founding of the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations in the year 1945.

Many organisations associated with food security celebrate this day and for them this really auspicious.

On this day, people across the globe come together in order to act against hunger and eradicate it.

Why should we care about hunger?

Here are some valid points:

  1. Most importantly, the right to consume food is the basic human right and every human being on this planet has the right to adequate food.
  2. As per a survey, more than 5 million children under 5 years of age die of hunger every year.
  3. Almost 50% children in poor countries face malnutrition
  4. Reportedly, 40 countries have achieved the target to halve the proportion of people suffering form hunger.

On top of all these things, human suffering is of utmost importance and should be dealt with at any cost.
