Washington: Johnny Depp is apparently set to play the famous American author Dr. Seuss in an upcoming biopic.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star will also produce the project with Infinitum Nihil partner Christi Dembrowski, Illumination’s Christopher Meledandri and David Kennedy, Us magazine reported.
Seuss, whose famous works include The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, How the Grinch Stole Christmas! and Horton Hears a Who, died at age 87 in 1991.
Several film adaptations of his work have been produced -- including How the Grinch Stole Christmas and The Cat in the Hat.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, an animated adaptation of Seuss`s The Lorax is in post production and expected to open in theaters in March 2012.
