New Delhi: Looks like Aamir Khan’s show ‘Satyamev Jayate’ has indeed done a world of good to India. The actor’s efforts are reaping fruits and the credit surely goes to him for bringing a sea change in the country’s outlook towards things.
Aamir recently met the Parliamentary panel headed by Rajya Sabha MP Shanta Kumar of the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday to discuss core issues related to the medical fraternity, including Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in pharmaceuticals.
Though the actor refused to divulge the minutes of the meeting and its outcome, it was reported that the meet was a successful one and had the potential to bear positive results.
What followed the committee meet was an announcement by the Union Health Ministry on Friday that generic medicines will be made available at all government hospitals between October and November. Though the Ministry claimed that they did not get influenced by Aamir, their stance looked pretty much an effect of ‘Satyamev Jayate’.
Reportedly, LC Goyal, Additional Secretary, Health Ministry said that the plan would suit the pockets of the poorer section of the society and will ensure quality healthcare. Moreover, the government aims at providing free medicines to patients and will also formulate a method that will enable complete transparency in the procurement of essential drugs.
Other states will be asked to follow the model followed by Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu for holistic healthcare system.
