Akshay about to trip Aamir in the ‘Hit of the Year’ race?

Mumbai, Dec 22: Akshay Kumar’s ‘Singh is Kinng’ has established a tough benchmark for the tag of most successful movie this year. However, with his well-known determination and planning, all hopeful eyes are on Aamir, who releases his promising ‘Ghajini’ this Christmas. Statistically, ‘Singh is Kinng’ is a tough cookie to crack, and Aamir lost it to Akshay last year, too.Akshay topped as the most successful actor of 2007 with his ‘Welcome’ grossing 135 crore 80 lakh. This year, the 50crore budget movie ‘Singh…’ crossed last year’s record and collected 152 crore 15 lakh worldwide. It did a 117 crore 15 lakh business in India alone. However, Aamir Khan’s ‘Taare Zameen Par’ was arguably the more famous and appreciated movie, even winning an entry in the Oscars. If it was more loved, it lost in the financial race grossing only 97 crore 32 lakh. So far, Akshay’s comic capers have collected more moolah from the box office, but Aamir’s power-packed action murder-mystery ‘Ghajini’ has promised some thrilling watch.
