Mumbai, Feb 20: The much anticipated Tom Cruise starrer ‘Valkyrie’, which released all over this Friday, failed to live up to the high expectations of fans. Even the portions showcasing Nazis killing Hitler do not succeed in creating an impressive impact.
‘Valkyrie’ is a story of Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) and a few other army men like him, who struggle to free Germany from the rule of Adolf Hitler. Stauffenberg, for Germany’s freedom, takes up a ‘Kill Hitler’ mission. Neither the script, nor the story, of the film manages to keep you engaged. Casting seems to be one of the flaws in the flick, as the actor who plays Hitler surprisingly has nothing much to say. Cruise’s performance is not bad, but the actor somehow appears to be a misfit for the role of a German soldier. His accent and body language looks American, which probably acts as the biggest flaw in the film. Most of other characters are British which unfortunately takes away the intensity required for a subject like this. On the whole, ‘Valkyrie’ is an unconvincing attempt on the infamous plot of killing Hitler. Rating: Two cheers for ‘Valkyrie’!
