Thiruvananthapuram: The Crime Branch of Kerala Police has registered an FIR against two persons, including the former driver of the controversial solar scam case accused Saritha S Nair, for allegedly attempting to murder her by giving food laced with chemicals including mercury and lead. The FIR, filed on November 8, was registered under Sections 307, 420 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Sections 307 and 420 of the IPC deals with the attempt to murder and cheat respectively while criminal conspiracy is dealt with in Section 120B.

The case was registered against Thiruvananthapuram resident Vinu Kumar saying he conspired with other accused in a sexual assault case related to a solar scam matter, and attempted to murder her for financial gains. The FIR says Kumar was her driver since 2014. It also states that the accused tried to kill her by adding chemicals including arsenic, mercury and lead, to her food.
