CPM students' body used Gaza photo showed by Pakistan in UN, claims BJP

The Students' Federation of India (SFI) has allegedly used the photo of an injured Gaza girl for a campaign in Kerala. The photo allegedly used by SFI is the same which was shown by Pakistan’s permanent representative to the UN Maleeha Lodhi at the UN claiming it to be a victim of pellet guns in Kashmir.

Objecting to the use of the photo by SFI, Bharatiya Janata Party national spokesperson Sambit Patra questioned whether it was SFI which gave this picture to Lodhi. "SFI in Kerala has the same "Gaza" picture for it's campaign as was used by Pak envoy to malign India's image in UN..SFI gave Lodhi this pic? (sic)" he tweeted.

Students' Federation of India (SFI) is the student wing of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Lodhi had on the floor of the UN General Assembly, held a photograph of a woman whose face was peppered with alleged pellet gun wounds claiming it to be "the face of Indian democracy." However, it was later revealed that the photo was of 17-year-old Rawya abu Joma’a of Gaza, an alleged victim of an Israeli attack was actually taken by award-winning American photojournalist Heidi Levine in July, 2014.
