KOLKATA: A floating market has on Wednesday been opened in the City of Joy with nearly 114 boats and 228 sellers.

The market is located in South Kolkata's Patuli. It has been set up on a lake which is 500-metre long and 60-metre wide.

The mart is said to be the first floating market in India. It has been built by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) for Rs 10 crore.
