Mumbai: The makers of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmaavat starring Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, unveiled a song titled Nainowale Ne on Tuesday. The melodious track that showcases blossoming love between Maharawal Ratan Singh and Rani Padmavati, was not a part of the final print of the film which released on January 25.

Sung by Neeti Mohan and penned by Siddharth – Garima, Nainowale Ne is a soothing romantic song composed by Bhansali. The track instantly takes us to the Golden era of Indian cinema and reminds us of classics sung by Lata Mangeshkar in the 1950s.

Also starring Ranveer Singh (as Sultan Alauddin Khilji), Padmaavat was appreciated by the audiences and critics alike.

Based on 16th century Sufi poet Malik Muhammed Jayasi’s Padmavat, the film was embroiled in controversies since its inception.

Initially titled Padmavati, the film was scheduled for release on December 1 last year. But owing to nationwide protests by Rajput groups over its historical content, the makers decided to defer the film. Moreover, the Central Board of Film Certification too hadn’t issued the clearance certificate. It was only after seeking suggestions from a panel of experts that the Censor Board released a screening certificate. It had also suggested a few modifications and the same were duly incorporated by the makers.

Padmaavat also stars Jim Sarbh as Malik Kafur, Raza Murad as Jalaluddin Khilji and Aditi Rao Hydari as Mehrunnisa.

The film minted over Rs 500 crores worldwide and is one of the biggest releases of 2018.
