Bihar Guv to be moved for action against ex-VC

The Guv Devanand Konwar, in his capacity as the Chancellor, will be moved for action against K.N. Dube, the former VC of Tilka Manjhi University.

Patna: The Governor Devanand Konwar, in his capacity as the Chancellor, will be moved for action against K.N. Dube, the former Vice-Chancellor of Tilka Manjhi
University at Bhagalpur for allegedly committing financial irregularities to the tune of over Rs. 11 crore, the state government informed the legislative council on Thursday.

Replying to a call attention question by several MLCs
cutting across party lines demanding strong action against
Dube for his alleged financial irregularities, Education
Minister P.K. Shahi said that the latter was the most
appropriate authority to direct further action against the
ex-VC.

The Chancellor has all documents related to the
irregularities committed by Dube and only he has the powers
under the State Universities Act to order registration of a
criminal case against the accused under relevant acts or order
a vigilance probe, he explained amid a chorus of demand mostly
from treasury benches for vigilance probe against the ex-VC.

Shahi said that the state government will recommend to
the Chancellor to take necessary action against the former
Tilka Manjhi University VC in view of suggestions by house.

The MLCs were demanding action against Dube for
allegedly committing financial irregularities during his stint
as the VC and pressing for confiscation of the latter`s
property amassed through ill gotten wealth, besides
institution of a vigilance probe against him.
