JD(U) leader seeks declaration of assets by politicians too

Patna: Dissident JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP Upendra
Prasad Kushwaha on Wednesday questioned the Nitish Kumar government`s
commitment to clean up the system from corruption by merely
seeking declaration of assets from its ministers and demanded
that all politicians be asked to put out their assets for the
information of the general public.
The state government should ensure that all politicians
be made to declare their assets annually detailing the sources
of their properties, he said at a function where he took an
initiate by declaring various sources of his assets upon
taunted to do so by some JD(U) leaders recently.

In addition, a mechanism should be put in place for
verification of the assets of various people comprising
politicians, ministers and government servants in order to
make the anti-corruption crusade a success, Kushwaha
suggested.
Taking on his detractors in the ruling JD(U) camp, the
disgruntled JD(U) MP said that his assets worth Rs 2.48
crore have been raised through legitimate sources of income
over the years and said that if his rivals were not satisfied
with his clarifications then they were free to seek a probe
through any other agency, including judiciary.

Kushwaha expressed his anguish at being let down by
the top JD(U) leaders, including the Chief Minister Nitish
Kumar, and said that none of the senior leaders stood by him
while some ruling party leaders had levelled corruption
charges against him.
