JD(U) rebels to face disciplinary action

JD(U) said democratic process would be adopted to take disciplinary action.

Patna: Ruling out taking harsh action against party rebels, the JD(U) on Sunday said democratic process would be adopted to take disciplinary action against those involved in anti-party activities during or before the recent Assembly elections.

"We are not going to take harsh action behaving like a magistrate. We have decided to adopt democratic process to take disciplinary action against all those who indulged in anti-party activities during or before the elections," state JD(U) president Vashishtha Narain Singh told reporters.

Action would be taken in keeping with the recommendations of the disciplinary committee of the party, he said.

Former state JD(U) president Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan, besides party`s several senior leaders including Mahabali Singh and Poornamasi Ram (both MP`s) had opposed the official nominees in the respective constituencies and even openly campaigned for the Congress and RJD during the elections.
They had also targeted Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during their campaign.
A meeting of the party state executive would take place here on January 8 and 9 to discuss the strategy to further strengthen the organisation and intensify the membership drive, Singh said.
