Hajipur: Suspected to be a thief, a man was lynched by a mob in Avkarpur village in Bihar`s Vaishali district, police said on Saturday.
The mob caught hold of the 35 year-old unidentified man in the village near the house of one Yadunandan Paswan last night and mercilessly beat him, Mahua police station`s Station House Officer (SHO) Vinay Kumar said, adding that he died on the spot.
The body has been sent for autopsy at the Sadar hospital, he said.
A murder case has been registered against unidentified persons and an investigation of the matter is underway, the SHO said.
