Patna: Accusing the Nitish Kumar government
of "ignoring" the interests of minorities in Bihar, the NCP
on Wednesday said the Chief Minister has "no intention" to open the
extension centre of Aligarh Muslim University at Kishanganj
"under pressure from BJP".
"The Nitish Kumar government is deliberately ignoring the
interest of minorities...it has no intention to facilitate the
opening of the proposed extension counter of AMU at
Kishanganj," NCP general secretary Tariq Anwar told reporters
here at a function to celebrate the 121st rpt 121st birth
anniversary of country`s first education minister Maulana Abul
Kalam Azad.
In 2008, the AMU had decided to open five of its centres
in the country. Bihar`s Katihar district was selected as one
among them.
The NCP leader said the state government had agreed to
provide 100 acres of land to set up the centre, as against the
requirement of 250-350 acres.
The available land is far too short of the requirement,
he said.
