Patna HC asks chancellor to reply to notice

Patna HC asked the Governor-cum-Chancellor of Univs to reply on a writ petition challenging appointment of 6 VCs and 4 pro-vice-chancellors.

Patna: The Patna High Court on Wednesday asked the Governor-cum-Chancellor of Universities to reply to a show cause notice by July 26 next on a writ petition challenging appointment of six vice-chancellors and four pro-vice-chancellors.
A division bench comprising Chief Justice Rekha M Doshit and Justice A Amanullah passed the ordered on a PIL filed by Dr Ram Kamakhya Singh of Ara-based Veer Kunwar Singh University challenging the appointment of six VCs and four Pro-VCs in 2011.
The petitioner had alleged that the appointment of six VCs of the universities was made by the Chancellor without consulting the state government.

The court posted the PIL for further hearing on July 26 next.
