Crime against woman cops on rise in Delhi, 14 cases reported

Cases of women police personnel subjected to molestation and attacks in the national capital have been on the rise.

New Delhi: Cases of women police personnel subjected to molestation and attacks in the national capital have been on the rise with 14 such incidents reported this year till July 31, equal to the combined number of such cases in the past three years, the Lok Sabha was informed on Tuesday.

Till July 31, as many as 14 such cases have been reported in which 16 people have been arrested, Minister of State for Home Affairs Mullappally Ramachandran told the Lok Sabha in a written reply to a query.

In 2010, four such cases were registered in which as many persons were arrested. In 2011, the number of such cases stood at three in which a total of six people were held, while in 2012, seven such incidents took place in which eight persons were arrested, he said.
Ramachandran said Delhi Police has been working ceaselessly for ensuring the safety of women. Immediate action has been taken on all cases reported to them.
